ICEJ Report

Passion Week

“Passion Week” is a special five-part video teaching series produced by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem to mark the Passover/Easter season, taking us on a journey from Palm Sunday thru Resurrection Sunday. Join us in the very locations in Jerusalem where Jesus spent his last week of ministry, poured out his life for our redemption, and then arose in triumph over death and the grave. Featuring teachings by ICEJ President Dr Jürgen Bühler and others, this video series will bring to life the entry of Jesus over the Mount of Olives on Palm Sunday; His agony in prayer at Gethsemane; His trial before Pilate at Herod’s Palace; His death on Calvary; and the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb on the third day. The Passion Week series will be available starting Sunday, 28 March on the ICEJ’s YouTube channel.

Bless Jewish Families This Passover!

Happy New Year 2021!

Though it may not have always been evident, God has been with you through every pain, disappointment, frustration and lonely season of 2020. You may feel weary as you enter into a new year, but take heart, for God is always working! He has a good plan for your life and you are never alone.

Happy New Year from the ICEJ!

Merry Christmas 2020

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given,
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
     (Isaiah 9:6)

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous support and heartfelt prayers this past year. Your partnership with us made a significant difference in Israel, blessing and encouraging the Jewish people in substantial and meaningful ways.

We wish you a Merry Christmas!

Warm regards,

Dr. Jürgen Bühler
ICEJ President

Many Helping Hands With One Heart

During times of crisis or times of celebration, our call remains the same: To comfort God's people and to say "Lord, here I am". It was an honor for ICEJ volunteers to lend a helping hand to Hineni (Hebrew for "here I am"), an organization based in Jerusalem that offers aid to those in need in the surrounding area.

Together with this Jewish organization, ICEJ helped package and deliver hot meals and boxes of Passover essentials to those who are struggling during this pandemic. Thank you for partnering with us with one heart, the heart of our Heavenly Father, to give to those in need, especially during crisis and Passover celebration!

Hope is at the Door!

Since 1996, ICEJ Homecare has provided nursing assistance and emotional support to Israel's most vulnerable population. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, many of the people we visit and help on a weekly basis are not able to have visitors. This is especially difficult during this Passover season, because it is usually a time when everyone gathers together with their families to celebrate the week-long holiday. Unfortunately, many will be alone in their homes this Passover.

Therefore, the ICEJ Homecare is taking extra care of those in need by providing home deliveries of food and simply being a source of friendship and hope at the doors for many!

Join us in bringing hope and light to Israelis in need as many celebrate this unusual Passover alone in their homes!

He Knows Your Name

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified." (Isaiah 61:1-3)

This is what Jesus did for Mary Magdalene. He healed her brokenness. He delivered her from demonic oppression. He gave her beauty for ashes as His presence entered her life. He met her in the garden tomb after He had risen and gave her comfort, joy and praise! She became a channel of God's glory, not only through her transformed life but also in the news of the resurrection that she would share with the rest of the disciples. Jesus called Mary by name, and He calls each of us by name.

A Big "Thank You" from Israel

Amidst the global pandemic of the Coronavirus, the ICEJ has still been at work to deliver help, comfort, and hope to those in need and we wanted to share this good news with you.

Here is how donations from Christians around the world have made an impact in the past few weeks.

  • To ease the constant burden of safety along Israel’s Gaza Border, which now includes a global pandemic, ICEJ partnered with other organizations to provide protective gear to Emergency Teams so they can protect themselves and their communities.
  • In Haifa, Israel, the ICEJ team was busy helping to deliver food and other essential supplies to Holocaust Survivors and is now involved in caring for the medical care, social and emotional needs of the residents.
  • ICEJ Homecare has been delivering packages of essential supplies to those who need special medical care and has also been reaching out by phone to make sure they do not feel alone during this challenging time.
  • In partnership with local Israeli Aid organizations, ICEJ volunteers had the privilege to package meals and food supplies to those in need.
  • For the newest immigrants to Israeli society, ICEJ partnered with a local organization to provide Ethiopian immigrants with Passover supplies and other essentials while they are in quarantine.
  • ICEJ was also able to provide food vouchers and games for new immigrant families to bring some fun during this difficult time.

Whatever Israel faces, they face it comforted by the love and tangible support from Christian friends like you.

Caring for Holocaust Survivors in Crisis

The ICEJ has a team of staff and volunteers in Haifa working with our local partner Yad Ezer L'Haver to feed and care for hundreds of Holocaust Survivors and other elderly who have been told to stay in their homes to protect them from the Coronavirus. We are helping deliver to their front doors boxes with food and other essentials to give them hope amid their isolation and to show Christians care. These efforts have even caught the attention of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

As Israel (and the entire world) takes drastic measures to combat the Coronavirus threat, ICEJ has activated our “Israel in Crisis” fund to meet urgent needs during this national emergency. We are working to make sure the elderly and other needy families have food and other necessities, especially with Passover fast approaching. Thank you for thinking of Israel, even as your own nation deals with the Coronavirus threat.

Emergency Appeal to Help Israel

Like so many other nations at present, the Coronavirus threat has had a huge impact on Israel. The economy is reeling as unemployment has jumped from 4% to over 22% in the last three weeks. Tourism has flatlined and now the hi-tech sector is taking a big hit. Even the main outdoor shouks in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are shuttered.

And Israel is now entering the Passover season under the cloud of this modern-day plague. More than 50% of families in the large city of Ashdod have asked for social aid to help them through the Passover holidays.

So our support for the Jewish people is more important than ever. We know your nation is impacted by this global health crisis as well, but we are asking all those who love Israel to give your best gift in this time of crisis and believe in God’s promise to bless those who bless Israel.

Despite the current lockdown in Israel, the ICEJ has some 20 staff members who have permission to leave their homes to feed and assist Holocaust survivors and other elderly Israelis. We also are forging ahead with a number of Passover aid projects to help new immigrants and other needy Israeli families. So in this time of crisis, we are still your hands and feet in Israel!

Ethiopian Aliyah at Passover

Last week, the ICEJ sponsored another flight of 72 Ethiopian Jews coming home to Israel. But they arrived amid the Coronavirus threat and had to immediately go into a 14-day quarantine. And now the Passover is approaching and their first celebration of this holiday in the Promised Land will happen under very difficult circumstances. Instead of a big communal Pessach seder meal like in this video from last year, this time they will have to mark this biblical holiday while confined to their rooms in an absorption center.

The ICEJ has committed to providing these Ethiopian Jewish families and many other new immigrants to Israel with the means to celebrate this Passover. Our assistance will include traditional foods, basic necessities, games and toys for the children, and other holiday items. They have arrived in a new country at a time of great hardship and need our help!

Thank you for helping us fulfill their dreams of starting over in the Jewish homeland. And thank you for standing with the ICEJ as we continue to comfort the people of Israel during the Coronavirus crisis.

Please give your timely and generous gift today to help us provide Passover packages for new immigrants who have just arrived in Israel:
