The City of David: Part Six

Ruins to Restoration

Jewish pilgrims in the 2nd Temple Period went through a ritual cleansing before ascending to the Temple. How did they travel from the ritual bath to the Temple? Along the newly discovered Pilgrim Road.

In the last part of this special series of Encounter Israel, we will explore the most recent and ongoing excavations at the Pilgrimage Road. These include the drainage channel, where some 2000 Jews hid during the Roman destruction of Jerusalem 70AD, a golden bell in the shape of a pomegrante - likely from the hem of the high priest's robe,  a slab containing the earliest known etching of a menorah, and more.

In this video, ICEJ VP & Senior Spokesman David Parsons leads us on a tour to investigate the importance of this road in ancient Jewish life and today.
