IDF troops traded fire with Palestinian gunman on the border with Gaza Wednesday afternoon, after an improvised explosive device was detonated along the patrol route of troops as they conducted a routine patrol. Mortar fire was also directed at the troops in what appeared to be a planned ambush. IDF troops reacted with tank fire that wounded 7 Palestinian gunman, according to medical reports. Five mortar shells were also fired into Israeli civilian areas from Gaza on Wednesday, resulting in no damage or casualties. The IDF Spokesperson's office reported that it was the 12th incident so far this year of an IED being placed near the border fence.
